Family Advice and Support

David Bolton is devoted to the success of the families that DBP advise and look after. This is achieved by providing practical workable answers, using tact and understanding whenever bringing about necessary changes in circumstances where there may be lack of performance, profitability, family discord or disagreement. Our business understands the need to devote time to clearly explain the different options going forward whilst having the breadth of experience to know what is possible. David Bolton’s own track record in bringing about successful change for farming families is second to none.

David has experience with all ages and backgrounds ranging from the teenager to the octogenarian; and with all types and sizes of family farm – both arable and mixed, field vegetables, soft fruit and even fish. We have a clear understanding about the need to build long term family wealth; both growing capital and improving farming profits; whilst ensuring that family wealth is in the ‘right pockets at the right time’.

Individual advice to meet your personal needs

At DBP we are not committed to any one pre-conceived route. There is no such thing as a ‘pre-packaged’ solution. Every family or company is different and requires a solution that fits its personal needs and long term aims. We work closely with ‘hands-on’ farming businesses and also set up and manage successful short term or longer term contracts. We understand the varying needs of farmers, contractors and landowners and our aim is to bring about mutually profitable, sustainable situations taking into account all personal and professional factors.

Working across the food chain

David Bolton Partners operates right across the food chain from ‘field to plate’. We are involved with both growers and processors; help source storage and processing capacity and have a close understanding of different end markets. The client base of David Bolton Partners ranges from family farms to national agribusinesses from Kent to Edinburgh. All clients benefit from this spread of knowledge and experience.

Operating at every level

Unlike many professionals David has a 'hands on' attitude and is just as happy to 'mardle' with a tractor driver as a Duke – and often finds out more about the realities of a farming business that way! David and his team have considerable experience in negotiating with farm staff and when relevant union representatives too, over employment issues. We are often asked to recruit and interview at all levels in the farming chain. David Bolton is also a non-executive director of a number of farming companies.

A key part of your professional team

David Bolton has worked with every leading rural professional in the country – accountants, solicitors, land agents and bankers - and we have considerable experience in working with your professional team to turn theory into practical reality. Do ask your current advisors for their views.

Independence of action

Because we are beholden to no group, nor profession nor business we can give truly independent advice working solely in the best interest of our clients. We approach any situation with an open mind and no preconceptions. We will always ‘tell it as it is’ and give an honest open appraisal.
